“Surf’s Up… For Terror! ‘Plankenstein: A Killer Surf Movie’ Crashes Into Streaming”
Prepare to hang ten with a twist of terror as Plankenstein rides in on a tide of gore-soaked waves. Set on the sun-drenched shores of Kailua, Oʻahu, this wild new horror brings together surf culture, Hawaiian folklore and inventive kills in a brand-new sub-genre: the surf-board slasher.
Directed by Diq Diamond and executive produced by Cinesthesia Factory, the film tells the story of a cursed surfboard — christened “Plankenstein” — which becomes the murderous protector of a hidden Hawaiian royal heir. Among the cast are Amy Jennings, Alex Dayuha and newcomer Leilani Ramos as Lili, the unsuspecting heir who must surf for survival.
The inspiration? A battered surfboard rescued by Diamond on Oʻahu’s North Shore, reinforced with metal hinges and twine — a Frankenstein-style rig that sparked the concept of a killer surf board. The film honors local legend and modern wave-riding alike, weaving ancient Hawaiian curses into blood-soaked beachside mayhem.
Plankenstein makes its worldwide streaming debut on November 7, 2025, on platforms such as Amazon Prime Video, Tubi TV, Pluto TV, Vimeo and Bloodstream. For fans chomping at the bit for a theatrical experience, the world premiere will hit Kailua Cinemas in Oʻahu on November 8 – complete with cast and crew Q&A.
